Wildlife and climate change analysis for a conservation startup

Summary

World Wildlife Conservancies, a conservation startup, needed spatial analysis of target species and environmental conditions to help inform their business decisions. They also wanted some map representations of their focus areas, as well as some simple graphics to add to their website and investor decks.

Wildlife Ranges and Spatial Considerations

I collected and mapped data for three African countries to help the conservation startup determine ideal locations for conservation sites. These data included wildlife sitings and their ranges in addition to land use, protected areas, waterways, human populations, and roadways. Change in precipitation was also calculated and mapped using NCAR climate model data.

Infographic Maps

They wanted a few simple maps showing their focus areas both in Africa and around the world. Below is one of the maps I made for them.

Icons

I drew over a dozen simple icons depicting wild animals and Environmental Social Governance (ESG) concepts for use in their investor presentation decks and website. A few of the icons I created are shown below.

Conclusions

These spatial analyses help the conservation startup choose conservation sites that will both be beneficial for wildlife and resilient into the future.
